Do You Have a Safety Net for Your Business?

Here is what I mean by that!

We talked to a sales manager that was recently hired, and he discovered that his new company was losing track of prospects. He was going through the company’s call data, and he saw that calls were being made, but if the prospect didn’t call back, or said not right now, they were slipping through the cracks, and not getting called at all anymore.

There were also prospects that had received a quote but hadn’t made a decision yet. They were called back once or twice but were still unsure when or if they would buy, and then typically not contacted again. We have found this happens in many companies. Sales people are busy and need to deal with the demands of current customers and prospects.

Perhaps this is happening in your company too.

So, the president of that company asked us for help. We then set up a call back system, where we called these potential customers on a regular basis, until they either bought, told us they bought elsewhere, or said they weren’t interested anymore. Even if they say they’re not interested anymore, very often that means they’re not interested at this time. But by having us call the ones that weren’t absolutely dead, we found that many of these people did buy. The squeaky wheel eventually gets oiled!

That is how we became that company’s safety net. And we still are, not just with them, but with other companies too. Some of our customers have us call their potential customers that have gone silent for 30 to 60 days, or longer as per their sales cycle. We are their safety net.

I’m sure you have some safety nets for your business. You have IT redundancy and backups. Perhaps you have multiple suppliers, possibly in a few different areas in your business, so you ensure you get your materials on time. You have insurance covering a variety of possible loss areas.

These are all safety nets.

And there are other ways that a safety net can help your business.

Where your company may struggle, is keeping in touch with your current and past customers, large and small.

And we’re all the same. If we’re a customer of a business, and that business doesn’t keep in touch with us, basically ignores us, there is no allegiance to them. This can happen for many reasons. Perhaps you’ve got too many customers, especially smaller businesses, to keep in touch with them all.

And the biggest reason that customers switch to another provider, is because their provider didn’t keep in touch with them. They felt they were ignored and unappreciated.

That is where we can help you. We can be your safety net!

As a matter of fact, that is what a number of our clients call us – their safety net.

We have a few clients who ask us to keep in touch with smaller customers, and customers that left them. By having us call them, to keep in touch, and ensure they are still happy with their products and services, these companies have returned, stayed as customers for our clients, and in many cases they are buying more than they were before.

Many businesses have an increasing percentage of their revenue from online sales. These online customers are rarely if ever contacted to see how the products are working out for them, and what else they could be buying. These customers are the most vulnerable to any competitive contact, or even the next email that could save them a few dollars.

If you haven’t had the time and/or resources to keep in touch with these customers, let us do that for you.

Why not let us be your safety net?

We’ve been doing this for over 20 years, so we are very good at what we do, and we can not only help you get new business, but help you keep in touch with your current, past, and dormant customers. This will definitely help you keep these businesses as customers, and it usually helps you get past customers back.

We are lot less expensive than the loss of your customers.

If you remember from our last article, more and more people want to hear from their suppliers, especially by phone, much more than by digital media. And that is what we excel at, keeping in touch with your customers by phone. The customers you haven’t contacted for some time. Your customers that may be talking to your competition.
